Let’s talk about Fall and Winter items that look cheap and how you can avoid looking outdated. There are easy tricks to look expensive without buying designer items.
To be clear, looking “cheap” or “expensive” has nothing to do with stores, brands, or cost. A $1000 coat can look cheap just as a $15 shirt can look expensive. Today, I’m sharing my secrets with you on how to avoid looking cheap and always look elevated.
Fashion trends that look CHEAP
When buying boots pay attention to the details. The black boots have a chunky buckle which is giving 90’s. The white boots don’t look as nice due to the fake wood heel and plastic like texture (it cheapens the look). These little details make all the difference.

Invest in real leather boots. These are my favorite boots (real leather and real wooden heels). However, I know it’s not in everyone’s price point.

I like how both of these are solid color heels with a classic design. These will last season after season. I suggest taking care of your shoes by spraying them with this protectant. I use this and my shoes never get dirty!
Trends that look CHEAP
Again, let’s look at the details. The pink hoodie on the right has a floppy collar. This means the fabric isn’t thick enough to hold shape. There are also strings coming down which cheapens the looks. The photo on the right, take a closer look at the zipper. I can tell by looking at it that it’s a basic zipper. It’s the absolute worst when you buy a clothing item and the zipper doesn’t zip well.

Notice how much nicer the zippers are. The structure of these sweaters are also better. Some of these sweaters are from Amazon and some are from higher end stores. Can you guess which ones?
It just goes to show it’s not about brand or price. It’s so much more than that.

Notice the buttons? They are big, bulky, and the color is contrasting with the sweater. This immediately cheapens the look of the sweater. Avoid this by choosing sweaters with buttons that compliment the material.

The buttons on the left are gold and make a statement. This elevates the look of the sweater and makes it feel more fancy. On the right, the neutral buttons blend into the brown and ivory color scheme. This gives a balanced and clean look.
