Fashion is always changing, and sooner or later, the new fashion trends will cover some of the old good ones. Fashion designers have always looked back at the fashion archives to look for inspiration for new designs. It is a way to introduce some new trend onto the market, yet still, make a resemblance and nod to the past.
Personally, I’m loving some of the style coming back! I wasn’t alive in the 70’s so it’s fun to get to experience some of the iconic trends in today’s fashion.
Looking back particularly to the ‘70s, it is unavoidable to mention the hippie style. Created and flaunted by a certain group of people, the hippie style became worldwide spread and left a mark on fashion history that can still be seen today. Although this style can be interpreted through many different garments, one outfit that completely stood out particularly in the ‘70s can easily be recreated today!
So, what are we talking about?
Well, it is wide-leg jeans, cropped top, and the platform shoes combo.
70’s fashion
Wide-leg jeans
The wide-leg jeans is iconic 70’s fashion. From the moment they appeared on the fashion scene, they instantly became so popular, that even men started wearing them. Many retailers are making more “modern” looking wide leg jeans that are wearable in today’s time.

Cropped top
The cropped top is the second part of the outfit that ideally complemented the wide-leg jeans. It came in so many different options and choices, and the only point was to make the belly button visible.

Platform shoes
Platform shoes were the iconic look of the ‘70s. This unique style featured thick platform soles, paired with high chunky or block heels. Women used to wear them under the wide-leg pants because it made them look slimmer and taller. Today, we wear them for the same reasons. I’ve always loved platforms because I find them easier to walk in than stilletos.
