5 Ways I’m Staying Healthy At Home. Now more than ever it’s important to stay healthy. Not just physically healthy but mentally and emotionally. It’s a crazy world we live in right now (being quarantined and the coronavirus). Honestly, I’ve never seen anything like it. It’s like we are trapped in a Hollywood movie set about a pandemic outbreak. It seems surreal. Yet, here we are in real life.
Many of you are stuck inside (as we all should be.) As a nurse, I have to go to work. Nurses are needed now more than ever. So I have to take extra precautions for myself and my patients. I’m sharing my best tips on how I’m staying healthy to protect myself, my patients, and society.
5 Ways I’m Staying Healthy
A Smoothie a day keeps the doctor away
For the past few months I have been making smoothies for breakfast every morning during the week. On the weekends, I make paleo belgian waffles (so good). I make different types of smoothies so I don’t get bored but I’m loving it! It keeps me full until lunch time because I pack them with protein. Honestly, I think that’s the most important part. If you don’t have protein in your smoothie you will be hungry in an hour or two.
Mint Chocolate Chip Smoothie (Obsessed with this)
- 1/2 banana
- 1 tablespoon peanut butter or almond butter
- 1 date
- Handful of Spinach
- Tablespoon of hemp seeds or chia seeds (this part isn’t that important if you don’t have them but hemp seeds are packed with protein)
- Half a scoop of vanilla protein powder (This is the only protein powder I use. It makes everything taste like ice cream, yet all ingredients are clean. I order it from Australia but they ship to the US)
- 1/2 teaspoon of mint extract
- Ice cubes
- Blend for one minute. Open blender and add raw cocoa nibs. Blend for another 10-20 seconds.
SO freaking good! It tastes like mint chocolate chip ice cream and there is nothing but healthy foods in this smoothie!
Let me know if you try this!
When Life Gives You Lemons…
Hot lemon water is good to drink first thing in the morning. It starts by flushing out toxins and helping the digestive system eliminate waste. I try to remember to do this first thing in the morning before I eat breakfast or drink my morning coffee.
I like to sprinkle pink sea salt with my lemon. This is a really easy and healthy practice to implement in your morning routine!
Finding Supplements or Vitamins That Work For You
I feel like the biggest thing with vitamins is actually remembering to take them. It’s also a bit of trial and error to find ones that work for you. I’m super excited because I just ordered SuperYou vitamins which are suppose to reduce the effects of stress and improve energy, mood, and focus. That’s what I’m talking about! I have been using these for about 2 weeks and I notice a difference! When I’m at work I feel less tense and just a more general feeling of calmness. I also don’t feel as fatigued but they may be due to pairing it with power dust and brain dust (more on that later).
To save money, I take one a day instead of two. This will make the bottle two months rather than one!
Tea, Please.
Tea is full of antioxidants especially green tea. I’m trying to incorporate more tea into my daily routine. I’ve always loved tea but go through phases where I drink it a lot and then stop. I’m going to start swapping my mid-afternoon coffee for green or matcha tea.
I found this matcha tea that enhances your immune system and you can take anywhere! Love that!
Detox tea is also a great choice. I just bought some detox tea from Nordstrom and will be implementing this into my night time routine.
Fairy Dust Is Real
Ok, have you seen these cute little packages all over Instagram like brain dust and beauty dust? I was intrigued. So intrigued that I researched it and they have really good reviews! It’s based off of Chinese medicine and has natural ingredients to boost your mood, mind, skin, and so much more!
I ordered the full moon box that has all of them in it so I can see which ones work for me. I’ve been using them for 2 weeks now- and YES they work! I feel so much happier, more energized, and in better spirits. My suggestion is to start with the full moon box so you can see which ones work for you.
I hope these healthy tips work for you and I’m so happy I shared them!
