How to feel beautiful – that should be easy, right? Not always. We have all been in those situations where we can’t bear to look at ourselves in the mirror. Maybe it’s from a bad acne breakout, or a food baby from eating too much, or something we did that we are ashamed of. We have all been there.
You are not alone.
It’s really important to learn to love yourself first. If you don’t make yourself a priority and take care of yourself no one else will. To give our all to a spouse, children, family, and co-workers we need to be the best versions of ourselves. How do you get there if you don’t love yourself and feel beautiful? I have 10 amazing ways to help you feel beautiful and learn to love yourself today.

Learn your strengths
What are you good at? Cooking, cleaning, making people laugh, singing..whatever it is. Keep doing it. It builds confidence to do things that we excel in. When we are good at something it releases endorphins and gives us a boost of energy. Use that energy to inspire yourself to try something you aren’t good at. Practice makes perfect.
You know that saying beauty comes from the inside? This is so true! To really feel beautiful you need to feed your soul. Once you have internal beauty you can tweak your external features. Pick something you enjoy (so you stick with it) and volunteer. Do you love animals? Volunteer at a rescue shelter. Love cooking? Do a bake sale for an organization your fond of. Don’t have time to volunteer? Donate supplies or money to an organization that makes you feel good. I don’t always have time to volunteer (and I’m an oncology nurse so I’m pretty emotionally exhausted and feel fulfilled already) but I like to donate money a few times a year and it really makes me feel good knowing that I’m giving back!
Teach someone a skill
There is no greater gift than teaching. When you teach someone a new skill or trick it feels so amazing to give back. This will make you feel beautiful because you will feel appreciated. This may be checked off at work if you are in a position to teach others new skill but if not try it out! You will be so excited.
Words of encouragement
Give yourself a pep talk. Look in the mirror and tell yourself that you are beautiful. Everyone has something about themselves that they don’t like, but focus on what you do like. What do you get complimented on? Your gorgeous hair? A bubbly personality? Your amazing smile? Talk yourself up and know that yes, you are beautiful. You are worthy and amazing!
Get 8 hours of sleep
Sleeping needs to be a priority in your life. Sleep does the body good. When you have a full 8 hours of sleep each night you look more refreshed, have more energy, and feel better about yourself. Ultimately, this makes you look and feel more beautiful!
Drink lots of water
Specifically 8 glasses a day with 8 ounces each. Water helps skin elasticity and makes you less hungry (hello, summer bod!). It also keeps your skin clear. Water is really important! Quick tip: I drink one glass of water first thing when I wake up while I’m making my coffee, then I drink my coffee, and immediately after drink another 8oz glass of water. That means first thing in the morning I’ve already knocked 2 glasses out!
Weekly exercise routine
Yes, it’s important to exercise. We all know the benefits this can do for our bodies. The hardest part is getting in a routine. I need to take my own advice because I’m terrible about getting in a gym routine. I go through phases where I’m really good and than I fall off the wagon. Pick a set amount of times you can realistically go the gym. Keep yourself accountable. All you have to do is show up, and than things will start happening!
Learn how to do makeup
Now that we talked about how to be internally beautiful, let’s talk about the external! Makeup is a great way to feel beautiful. Learn what eyeshadows make your eye color pop, pick a lipstick that works with your skin color, and get a foundation that makes you excited about your skin. Makeup is a powerful tool and can really make you feel like the most beautiful woman in the room!
Have a bad ass wardrobe
Create a wardrobe you love! Clothes can make you feel beautiful and love the skin you are in! There are 5 easy ways to look put together that will make everything seamless for you! When you look good, you feel good, and when you feel good you do good for others. It’s really a trickle effect!
Believe in yourself
Life is short, don’t waste it being hard on yourself. We all make mistakes, we are human. Everyday is a new day to learn something new, help someone out, and work on ourselves. You will never be perfect and that’s ok. When you believe in yourself that’s when magic happens. You learn to realize how beautiful you are and love everything about yourself (yes, even the muffin top in your jeans).
