I recently created a video on my youtube channel discussing 5 rational reasons why no one should judge you for buying handbags. There seems to be a stigma surrounding carrying a designer purse. Remarks are made when someone thinks you spent an absorbent amount of money on a handbag and assumptions are made that you “should spend your money wiser.” I am here to tell you that it’s no one’s business how you spend your money, live your life, and NO ONE should make you feel guilty for your purchases.
No one should judge you for buying designer handbags: 5 reasons why
One: It’s no one’s business how you spend your money
People who don’t write your checks or manage your bank account have no business telling you how to spend your money. Only you (and/or your partner) have authority over how to spend your disposable income. It’s quite ridiculous that anyone should form judgement over how someone spends their money. There’s a lot worse things out there that you could be buying. Don’t let anyone make you feel guilty for how you spend your hard earned money.
Two: You call the shots when it comes to your happiness
The most important things (to most people) are health, family, and friends. Handbags are just material goods. Having one does NOT make you a better person, and it doesn’t make you who you are. After your basic life needs are met and your are fulfilled with health and a happy home then I don’t see why material goods can’t bring you some form of pleasure. Happiness is a state of mind. If handbags bring you joy and you can afford them than go for it! Life is short. You can’t take your money with you when you die so you mine as well enjoy life’s guilty pleasures.
Three: Spending money helps the economy
I’m not here to talk politics but the more we spend in the USA (especially with US based companies) the more our economy does well. I am all for living in a healthy and wealthy economic state. If this can make you feel a little less guilty about spending money well, than mission accomplished!
Four: Everyone has a vice & yours is handbags
Everyone has something they are really into. Some people spend a fortune on makeup, or travel, or going out to lunch and dinner multiple times a week. No one should judge you for spending YOUR money on handbags. It’s not like you are spending money on drugs or weapons- it’s just a handbag! If you find yourself in a situation where someone is making snide remarks about how much money your handbag costs remember that we ALL have choices. If Sandy didn’t send all her children to the most expensive private school or Rachel didn’t spend so much money every month at the hair salon then maybe they could own that Louis Vuitton bag. We all make decisions about what we want and desire, and we shouldn’t judge each other for choices made. To each their own.
Five: Work hard, play hard
Most people who can afford multiple Louis Vuitton and Gucci handbags have financial freedom and most likely work VERY hard to be where they are. No one should assume that you have a “rich husband” or “rich daddy.” Aren’t we in the age of women empowerment? Let’s take a moment to teach and learn from each other. Instead of thinking “how can she afford that bag” maybe change your thought process to “How can I afford that bag?” We can all be successful and enjoy the finer things in life.
Have you been judged before due to your love of handbags? Would love to hear more in the comments below! I linked my video below if you want more on the topic 🙂
