I recently traveled to Union Pier Michigan for my best friends bachelorette party. My bestie lives in Indiana and she wanted to have a bachelorette party that was fun, yet affordable. Most of her bridesmaids live in the midwest so traveling to Michigan was fairly easy. We had a really fun time and wanted to share some tips on how to create an affordable but also super fun bachelorette party!
Where to stay
We rented a huge house in Michigan that had beach access. With a big group of girls we split the cost which came out to around $150 per person for the entire weekend (fri-sun). As a group we covered the cost for the bride. I highly recommend factoring that into your budget when planning a bachelorette party. When celebrating your beautiful bride it’s a nice gesture and quite customary to cover her cost for the trip. We used Airbnb to book our trip. It’s a cheaper option than getting hotel rooms and because we were able to find a huge house we had more room to get ready. Game changer when you have 10 plus girls who need to do hair and makeup!
Bachelorette Beach Party
My best friend loves the beach! Lake Michigan is so big it looks like an ocean. We had a ton of fun and bought this adorable ring floatie and ice cream floatie. They are the perfect accessory for photos and also to use to lay out in the water. Heading to the beach or lake is free (yay!) and we brought a cooler with us that we filled with water, alcohol, and sandwiches. We found a local grocery store and picked up food and drinks for the weekend and split the cost between the bridesmaids.
It’s kind of funny that I have a white coverup and the bride is in black. The bride (Ali) doesn’t really love the color white and much prefers black. That’s ok! If you don’t want to wear white you don’t have to! It’s your bachelorette party and you can do what you want 🙂
Winery Tour
The winery tour was one of my favorite activities of the trip! We traveled to the round barn tasting room. The tasting was just $12 per person and a great group activity. We did ours in the morning and headed to an amazing lunch with water views afterwards. A winery tour would also be great as a “pre-game” activity to start your night off before heading out on a bachelorette bar crawl.
My best friend and I have very different body shapes. We conjointly call ourselves Biggie Smalls. We never have to worry about fighting over clothes. I have linked some curvy dresses that are beautiful for a bachelorette outing and the one I am wearing as well.
Bachelorette Photo Booth
Creating a photo booth is a fun activity for everyone and commemorates the celebration. It’s fairly easy and cheap to create, all you need is the supplies and a wall lol. Oh, and someone who is really good at blowing up balloons! You can keep the balloons cute or get as x-rated as you want!
What to wear to a bachelorette party
- Bring comfortable clothes to travel like athleisure or leggings (my favorite leggings)
- A sexy outfit for girls night out. The bride may request for bridesmaids to wear a specific color. This store has an amazing selection for dresses!
- A nice dress for dinner
- Cute rompers/shorts/maxi dresses for daytime activities. Bring dresses or activities like winery tours, shopping, lunch. Bring shorts and more casual clothes for activities revolved around beaches, swimming, hiking.
- A bathing suit & coverup (if there will be any swimming involved)
- Sunscreen
- Hats
- External battery charger

Hello!
I came across your blog post through Pinterest! My maid of honor is currently in the process of planning my bachelorette party and I’m wanting to do it by the beach in Michigan! I was wondering if you had any recommendations on places to stay and nightlife activity around the Union Pier area? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated! Thank you!
Safia,
Congrats on your engagement and how exciting! The bachelorette party is one of the best parts (besides getting married of course lol). We used AIRB&B to stay in an AMAZING house. It was literally a mansion. If you are going with a big group that’s a great option (and cheaper than hotel rooms). I don’t remember the exact name of the bars we went to but YES we went OUT and the Bride & all of us had a VERY good time. I actually just texted my best friend to see if she could remember the names (but we had so much fun we cannot remember). There are tons of cute bars with rooftops. If you are using UBER try and get the cell phone of the driver bc it’s limited in that area. Wherever you decide to have your bachelorette it’s going to be amazing!
